Ribbon Cutting of Renovated Jake Rubin Field to kick off field day at Rosarian Academy
WHAT:
An array of colors, energy and spirit will flood Rosarian Academy’s campus on Friday, March 13 for the renovated Jake Rubin Field Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. The school will officially open the field before the Middle School students storm the turf to begin their long-awaited Field Day.
This promises to be the most colorful ribbon cutting in school history as fifth-through-eighth-grade students will be clad wildly from head to toe in their team colors of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink, purple, black & white. Middle School Field Day traditionally occurs each October; however, it was postponed this year due to resurfacing and renovating the field and outdoor play areas. The construction has been ongoing since the end of last school year.
The Rosarian Academy outdoor play areas and field were in need of repair. Thanks to generous donors, over $500,000 was raised to update the Early Childhood and Kindergarten play areas ; install a new Lower School play structure; and to resurface the Jake Rubin Field. The renewed and reconfigured outdoor space includes an astro turf practice field (named the Smith Moore Field) and two outdoor basketball courts and two outdoor sports courts.
Dani Moore, representing The Mary Alice Fortin Foundation, will have the honor of cutting the ribbon. Click here to view the invitation to the ribbon cutting and full listing of donors.
Following the ribbon cutting and presentation, Middle School Field Day spirit cheers and games will begin. Students will compete in events, such as: team handball, soccer, Scrabble, volleyball, Wii Just Dance, track and field, basketball, capture the flag, and tug of war. Although the teams vie to showcase the first place trophy in their team leader’s classroom, the focus of the day is on good sportsmanship—being “athletes of Christ,” like St. Dominic.
Lower School students (grades K-4) will have the opportunity to compete in their Field Day the following Friday, March 20.
