Summer Prep Work
The Rosarian Academy Summer Prep Work program is designed to keep students engaged in academic learning over the summer and prevent the “summer slide,” where students may lose progress made during the school year. The program offers grade-specific assignments in core subjects like reading, writing, and math, ensuring that students maintain and strengthen essential skills while preparing for the next school year. By aligning with academic goals, the work is intended to be both manageable and meaningful, promoting retention and readiness.
Summer Prep for Success
Keeping students’ minds working and developing over the summer months is extremely important. Students entering kindergarten through eighth grades are required to read and complete an assignment and do math work. Students in Early Childhood are provided with optional summer work.
For younger students, the focus is on foundational literacy and numeracy, using reading lists and math exercises to reinforce classroom learning. For older students, assignments are more subject-specific, covering topics such as literature analysis, creative writing, and problem-solving in math. These activities ensure that students not only retain knowledge but also develop critical thinking and time management skills.
In addition to individual assignments, Rosarian encourages parental involvement to help students complete their prep work effectively. Parents can support their children by creating structured schedules, discussing books and assignments, and fostering a love for learning beyond the classroom.
The Summer Prep Work is an important part of Rosarian Academy’s academic strategy, bridging the gap between school years while helping students develop independent learning habits. This preparation allows students to start the new academic year with confidence, ready to build on their knowledge and explore new challenges.
Summer Work for Students:
All summer work for Lower School and Middle School students will be provided in packet form, sent home with students and posted on this page by the start of summer. No additional online summer work will be required or posted, making it easy for students to take their assignments and reading along on summer travels.
