Responsibilities Include:

  • Instructors are responsible for the creation of all materials related to activities. Prior to distribution, all materials must be pre-approved by Rosarian Academy.
  • Daily attendance records must be submitted to the Main Office within 30 minutes of the start of each daily session. (No later than 3:25)
  • Work collaboratively and productively with fellow aftercare teachers and other staff members
  • Change diapers as needed
  • Actively participate in professional development, faculty meetings and events when required
  • Supervise children on the playground
  • Maintain order and cleanliness of the Learning Environment
  • Provide direct instruction with homework
  • Discipline as necessary – always try redirection first, conscious discipline, and anticipating problems before they arise! Observe, Observe, Observe!
  • Be attentive of children – remind them of ground rules as needed – redirect, resolve problems as they arise, etc. Always treat all children with dignity and respect.
  • Communicate with parents in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Direct any concerns of a child’s progress, development or behavior to the other after care teachers.
  • Keep area neat and tidy
  • Instruct students to use the restroom before going home.
  • Ensure students look tidy (ex. face and hands washed, noses wiped)

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree preferred (but not required)
  • Experience in a Montessori Learning Environment preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Organized, flexible and team-oriented
  • Ability to work effectively with infant and preschool children
  • Willingness to learn about Montessori Education and Conscious Discipline
  • Must have completed 45-Hour Child Care Training Course as required by DCF or be willing to complete upon hiring

Full Job Description

Afterschool and summer programs at Rosarian Academy provide students with a safe, academically enriching environment while promoting the Dominican Catholic pillars that the school is founded upon. The afterschool program director’s job is to ensure the safety of the children, design appropriate activities, and record the progress of the program.

Job Description

The afterschool program director manages programs outside of school hours for students of all ages. The program director works closely with school administration to provide an enriching and educationally sound experience. He/she develops the structure of the program based on the needs and interests of the students and their parents, manages the program staff and operations, and maintains relationships with members of the school community. In many cases, the director is also avathe spokesperson for the program, representing all aspects of it to the school and surrounding community.

General Purpose:

Summer Camp/Afterschool Programs Director will oversee most aspects of staffing, programming, and camper/student relations for our summer camps and after school childcare sessions. Duties include staff hiring and training, site and resource organization, and program management. Responsibilities include directing staff training, conducting weekly staff meetings, managing camper information and groupings, maintaining fiscal records and working within a budget, maintaining camp resources and supplies, and interacting with parents, campers/students, staff and administration in a professional manner. The director is accountable for the overall management of the program and is specifically responsible for personnel management, program development and health and safety management in accordance with Florida Health Department policies. This position is a 12-month position.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and coordinate camp programs and activities for a safe, engaging, high quality summer program
  • Provide organizational and programmatic support as necessary
  • Oversee hiring and training of all summer camp staff
  • Maintain fiscal records for summer camp and after school programs, including summer budget and after school budget
  • Assist Health Director in assuring that Health Department Guidelines are met
  • Oversee the follow-through of any correspondence necessary related to camp/after school functions and activities. i.e. summer staff contracts, permits, etc.
  • Oversee camp/after school recruitment and registration
  • Oversee designation of camper/student placement within groups
  • Address crisis management, discipline and troubleshooting issues related to campers/students and/or staff.
  • Assist in determining supply and equipment needs and in ordering/purchasing
  • Support and supervise instructors in organizing, implementing, decision-making and trouble-shooting
  • Maintain a positive team atmosphere that includes campers/students, families, camp based and office based staff, and volunteers
  • Schedule, supervise and evaluate program staff, including Lead Instructors, Instructors, CITs and volunteers, providing support and disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Assist in the evaluation of the camp and after school program itself, as well as the camp / after school experience for youth participants.

Professional Qualifications and Competencies:

  • BA/BS degree in related field preferred
  • Administrative or supervisory experience, preferably in an educational setting
  • Experience teaching students of all ages in a variety of outdoor settings
  • Experience providing programming for diverse populations
  • Strong commitment to teaching and to sharing an appreciation for nature
  • Ability to execute responsibilities with minimal supervision, while demonstrating willingness to ask for assistance when needed
  • Required certifications include: First Aid and CPR
  • Prior camp experience, background in outdoor skills and/or natural history, experience managing a staff with flexibility, and team spirit
  • Ability to manage various forms of conflict appropriately

Rosarian Academy seeks a full-time Science Teacher with demonstrable classroom experience in physics, chemistry, biology and earth science. She/he has the desire to grow in an innovative professional learning community, is enthusiastic about teaching and learning, and is current with best practices. Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of the academic and social-emotional needs of middle school students in grades 5-8 and demonstrate the ability to teach students who vary in ability and learning styles. Responsibilities include inspecting different equipment and performing any basic repairs or preventative maintenance when required. Candidates should have a positive, can-do attitude and professional demeanor; be a team player; have previous experience in maintenance; be highly skilled with various hand and power tools; and be able to read blueprints and repair manuals.

Duties of this position include:

  • Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment.
  • Performing preventative maintenance.

  • Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary.
  • Diagnosing mechanical issues and correcting them.

The bookkeeper is responsible for supporting the accurate recordkeeping of the financial records of the Academy including, but not limited to accounts payable, cash receipts, accounts receivable, payroll, tuition, and journal entries. S/he assists the Business Office in seeing that policies and accounting principles are followed.
The bookkeeper position creates financial transactions and creates financial reports from that information. The creation of financial transactions includes posting information to accounting journals or accounting software from such source documents as invoices to customers, cash receipts, and supplier invoices. The bookkeeper also reconciles selected accounts to ensure their accuracy.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
General

1. Answers the phone and takes accurate messages when the Director is not available
2. Greets and assists parents, teachers and visitors in the Business Office
3. Opens the mail in a timely manner
4. Maintains a timely and orderly accounting filing system
5. Runs errands for the Business Office

Payroll

6. Maintains employees files
7. Instructs nonexempt employees on use of time clock and ensures the accuracy of all hourly employees’ records
8. Works with office staff and faculty to ensure accuracy in reporting paid time off
9. Processes semi-monthly payroll
10. Generates and files appropriate payroll forms
11. Assists in preparing payroll reports required by law and requested by management
12. Assists in reconciling employee benefit, employment tax liabilities, and accrued payroll liability accounts

Accounts Payable

13. Sets up and maintains all vendor files
14. Keeps inventory of checks and orders when supply is low
15. Processes checks weekly for all approved and complete purchase orders and vendor invoices

Accounts Receivable

16. Oversees Aftercare program receivables, issue invoices to parents and ensure that receivables are collected promptly
17. Oversees summer camp receivables
18. Supports financial recordkeeping requirements of fund raising activities (ie. Auction, Book Fair, Field Trips)
19. Records cash receipts and makes bank deposits weekly            20. Assists in conducting periodic reconciliations of selected accounts to ensure their accuracy
21. Maintains the petty cash fund

Monthly and Year-end Responsibilities

22. Collects data for monthly journal entries
23. Assists in issuing financial statements monthly
24. Assembles information for external auditors for the annual audit
25. Maintains the chart of accounts
26. Assists in maintaining the annual budget
27. Provides clerical support to management as requested
28. Performs other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

Education:
The bookkeeper candidate should have an Associate’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience, as well as knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Strong working knowledge of Excel is necessary.

Experience: 2-3 years experience

Required knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

● Ability to understand and support Rosarian’s vision, mission and values
● Ability to work independently and/or with others
● Ability to speak, write and read the English language

Physical:

o Must be able to stand, stoop, sit, push, pull, climb, lift heavy objects and walk intermittently during the day
o Must be sighted and capable of hearing or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so the requirements of the position can be fully met

Working Conditions:

o Ability to work in an office with multiple interruptions
o Must be able to work with the challenge of meeting responsibilities/deadlines within limited time frames and deal with a variety of personalities in a tactful and professional manner

Accountability:
Accountable to Director of Finance, and Head of School
