ROSARIAN STUDENT MAC MURPHY ADVANCES TO STATE LEVEL OF NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC BEE FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR
After winning the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee on January 17, 2014, MacCrea (Mac) Murphy, a seventh grade student at Rosarian Academy, took a written test to qualify to attend the state level competition. Earlier this month, Mac received notification from National Geographic that he will advance to the state Bee on April 4, 2014, at Jacksonville University.
Only up to 100 of the top scorers on the written test in Florida are eligible to compete in the state Bee. Mac competed in the state competition last year and will do so again for the second consecutive year. In conjunction with the studying additional materials from his social studies teacher, Mac said, ÒI feel more prepared this year. I have been reading National Geographic Magazine and traveling.Ó Since last yearÕs state Bee, Mac journeyed with his fily to Italy, Spain and Tunisia and just returned from spending his spring break in Japan.
