The school-level competition of the 2018 National Spelling Bee was held Jan. 23. Sixteen fifth- through eighth-grade students competed.

After 23 rounds, fifth-grader Nicholas Grippi won with the word “martingale.” Emma Chopin, also a fifth-grader, was runner-up. Both will represent Rosarian at the Final Regional Southeastern Florida Scripps Spelling Bee on Feb. 12 at The Benjamin School.
