Rosarian Academy’s Board of Directors announced last week the promotion of Linda Trethewey as the school’s new head of school effective July 1.

Trethewey currently serves as principal of Rosarian’s middle school. She succeeds Stephen E. Rubenacker, who has served as head of school for three years. Rubenacker and his family have expressed the desire to return to the Northeast to be closer to family.

“(Trethewey’s) attention to detail, experience, background and commitment to Catholicism and faith-based education are a perfect fit for Rosarian,” said Tim Hanlon, chairman of the board.

Trethewey joined Rosarian in July with 25 years of experience as a teacher and administrator in elementary and middle school classrooms. She served as assistant principal in the Maryland Public School System and the Archdiocese of Miami, including 10 years at St. Bonaventure Catholic School in Davie. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Chatham University, a master’s degree in supervision and administration from Towson University and is currently a doctoral candidate in management and supervision at St. Thomas University.

Trethewey and her husband, Scott, live in Fort Lauderdale and are parents to four children.
