The Rosarian Academy girls’ lacrosse team is at the halfway point of its season, a season that almost fizzled out before it started.
Lacrosse is one of the fastest-growing scholastic sports in the United States, but only four girls showed up for the first day of evaluations at Rosarian. By Day 2, 11 players showed up and eventually the number inched up to 14.
Of those 15, five returned from last year’s te. One other had some ge experience but she’s a fourth-grader. The remaining eight are newbies to the sport.
The athletic department went ahead and fielded a te, expecting the year would be a building one, and it has been, but a more joyous experience than many might believe possible.
