Students at Rosarian Academy were especially excited for this yearÕs Field Day Ñ Friday also marked the beginning of spring break.
ÒField day is fun, but the rest of the week is not because we have standardized testing,Ó said fourth-grader Matthias Bessenroth. He had just come from a scooter relay race and said he was looking forward to Òcrushing itÓ later when his team played soccer.
The annual event at the school was for students kindergarten through fourth grade. They are divided into teams and compete for ribbons. Teachers and parents joined the nearly four-hour event.
The kids Òseem to be having a blast,Ó said Lindsey Beylo, a P.E. teacher and soccer coach at Rosarian.
ÒStudying is great, but you gotta have fun, right?Ó said resident Sascha Bennemann, a first-time parent volunteer and owner of the restaurant Costa Palm Beach. Bennemann has a daughter in kindergarten.
Reina Banegas, a nanny for one of the students, said the cool temperatures and sunny day was perfect for the event. ÒSuch a lovely day for this,Ó Banegas said. ÒI love to come here and cheer them on.Ó
