Rosarian Academy Teacher Celebrates the Release of Her Seventh Book, Prayers for Senseless Seasons
West Palm Beach, FL – August 29th, 2024 – Dr. Jennifer Bird, a dedicated educator and accomplished author, proudly announces the release of her seventh book, Prayers for Senseless Seasons. This latest work continues her exploration of the profound connections between writing, healing, and personal growth, a journey deeply rooted in her own life experiences and academic career.
With a teaching career spanning 24 years, Dr. Bird has consistently integrated her passion for writing into her work as an educator. “As a teacher, I always want to be a role model to my students. If I am going to ask them to write, I want to show them that I am a writer too,” she explains. The balance between teaching and writing comes naturally to her, with most of her writing taking place during the summer months, allowing her to fully immerse in the creative process.
Dr. Bird began her publishing journey during her time at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where professors required students to submit work for publication rather than traditional final papers. This innovative approach opened doors to the world of publishing for Dr. Bird, where she quickly learned that quality writing is paramount. Over the years, she has collaborated with multiple publishers, establishing herself as a respected voice in both the academic and literary communities.
Three of her books focus on the theme of using writing as a tool for healing, both emotionally and physically. Following the sudden loss of her mother while in graduate school, Dr. Bird turned to writing as a means to process her grief. This personal experience inspired her doctoral research, which demonstrated the emotional benefits of writing. Collaborating with interdisciplinary experts like Dr. Eric Wanner and Dr. Jayne Brahler, she explored the impact of writing on physical therapy patients, illustrating how it can contribute to physical healing as well.
Her newest release, Prayers for Senseless Seasons, offers readers a collection of prayer devotionals designed to provide comfort and inspiration during life’s most challenging times. “I serve as a member of my prayer team at my church, and people would tell me they wish they had a written version of the prayers,” she shares. The book combines prayers, vignettes about her mother, and prompts for journaling, all aimed at helping readers find solace and inspiration. “Just like the weather, seasons change, and the challenging seasons in our lives do not last forever.”
As Dr. Bird continues to pursue her dual passions of teaching and writing, her future projects will delve further into the connections between writing and healing. She aims to reach not only students and physical therapy patients but anyone seeking to alleviate stress through mindfulness and expressive writing. “My goals are simple: to continue helping my students learn life lessons through literature and to inspire healing through writing.”
