Not letting it rain on one’s parade took on a new meaning for Rosarian Academy. With rain interrupting many of the festivities and events scheduled for Middle School Field Day on Friday, November 19, Rosarian Academy extended Field Day to December 3 in order to complete the competition. Field Day is an annual tradition at Rosarian Academy in which students are split into color-coded teams and led by a faculty captain in games and events. While the excitement is palpable and the competition is real, an air of sportsmanship rules the day, as all students and teachers celebrate together in a spirit of fun.
This year, with its much-anticipated cheer competition kicking off the beloved day among its fifth through eighth-grade students on November 19, rain soon began to fall and eventually became a downpour, making for a rainy conclusion to the soccer competition. With track and field and other outdoor events unable to be completed, Rosarian made the unprecedented and welcome announcement that an extra day would be added to Field Day to complete the competition. With indoor games being concluded, temporary standings were announced to conclude the first day.
Two weeks later, students reconvened and restarted the competition with a school-wide pep rally that afforded the lower school students an opportunity to join in on the fun. Then, the remaining games took place and the winners were announced. The yellow team won this year’s first-place prize, the blue team won the Cheer Competition, and the Sportsmanship Award went to the orange team. While only one team won first place, all who participated in this day strengthened their friendships, made lifelong memories, and were truly winners.
