Rosarian Academy Second Grade Spreads the warmth of love by making blankets for children In need
One of Rosarian AcademyÕs second-grade classes recently spent an afternoon hand making two blankets for children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. Led by their teacher Melissa Loving, the students made the blankets using brightly colored pieces of fleece and tied them together. For each knot tied in the blankets, the students said special prayers for the children receiving them. Then the students hugged each of the blankets to add a touch of love to be shared with the recipients.
The two blankets were donated to Project Linus which provides love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies, or anywhere that a child might be in need of a big hug. Project Linus, with headquarters in Belton, Missouri, has local chapters in all 50 states. Each chapter collects and delivers blankets which are lovingly made by adults and children from all walks of life. For more information, visit projectlinus.org.
