Kiwanis recognizes Day Academy

The Kiwanis Club of Palm Beach named five Students of the Month at its recent meeting at The Chesterfield.

Representing Palm Beach Day Academy were Isabel Carden and Caroline McCann.

Carden is an eighth-grader with a passion for science. She plays ice hockey and bagpipes and enjoys Scottish music. She follows five core values, making them the foundation of her life: responsibility, trust, integrity, grit and empathy.

McCann, also an eighth-grader, loves math and science and is captain of the schoolÕs Math Counts team. She participated in the Science Olympiad, the Mars Student Imaging Project and the speech and debate teams.

Representing Palm Beach Public were Josue Chun-Morales and Isabella Damas. Chun-Morales is a fourth-grader who loves reading and playing soccer and wants to become a police officer. He also enjoys learning Chinese and playing drums.

Damas is a third-grader at Palm Beach Public. She says she loves learning and her teacher and never wants to miss a day of school. She is a violinist in the schoolÕs Orchestral Strings ensemble and entertained members and guests at the meeting.

Sofia Mendez represented Rosarian Academy. She is an eighth-grader who says she considers Rosarian her second home. She is a school ambassador, plays varsity volleyball and tennis, and participates in the Duke University Talent Identification Program. She is in the National Junior Honor Society, works on the yearbook staff and is class president.
