Rosarian Academy school-level GeoBee winner Jack Smeenge
6th Grader Jack Smeenge Wins Rosarian National Geographic GeoBee
Rosarian Academy middle school students participated in the school-level competition of the National Geographic GeoBee on Friday, December 6. Jack Smeenge, a sixth-grade student, won first place, with James Molina, a seventh-grade student, finishing second.
In the school-level Bee, students answered oral questions on geography. Jack and James made it through five rounds before the championship round.
Jack will now take an online qualifying test to compete in the Florida State GeoBee. The winners of the State GeoBees receive an all-expenses-paid trip to National Geographic Society Headquarters in Washington, D.C., next May to participate in the GeoBee National championship, competing for cash prizes, scholarships and an all-expenses-paid Lindblad expedition to the Galapagos Islands.
Rosarian Academy, founded in 1925, educates students from early childhood through eighth grade and offers an exceptionally strong academic program enriched by athletics, visual and performing arts, and community service opportunities. STEM, coding, art, drama, music theory, and Spanish classes begin in kindergarten.
