Field Day Adds a Colorful End to “Rosarian Week” Tradition
A full spectrum of colors blanketed Rosarian Academy’s campus on Friday, October 5, 2018, as fifth-through-eighth-grade students concluded the school’s annual celebration of “Rosarian Week” with Field Day.
Dressed wildly from head to toe in a rainbow of team colors—Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Pink, Purple, Black & White–, the Middle School students competed in a variety of events: team handball, soccer, Scrabble, volleyball, Wii Just Dance, track and field, basketball, capture the flag, and tug of war. This year, the Blue Team took first place with 147 points. Following close behind, the Red Team finished second and the Pink Team took third. The Blue Team also won the most spirited cheer.
In addition to competing to showcase the first place trophy in their team leader’s classroom, the focus of the day was on good sportsmanship—being “athletes of Christ,” like St. Dominic. The Orange Team placed first in sportsmanship despite an eighth-place finish overall.
As tradition, Rosarian spends the first full week of October celebrating its service, faith, community, spirit, and mission—all of which have been a part of the school’s history in Palm Beach County since 1925. This year, Rosarian Week took place October 1-5 with Monday as Living the Faith Day, Tuesday Celebrate the “Spirit” Day, Wednesday History and School Family Day, Thursday Community Day, and Friday Field and Mission Day.
Rosarian Academy, founded in 1925, educates students from early childhood through eighth grade and offers an exceptionally strong academic program enriched by athletics, visual and performing arts, and community service opportunities. STEM, coding, art, drama, music theory, and Spanish classes begin in kindergarten.
