On the eve of St. Patrick’s Day, Team Green edged past defending champion Team Red to win Rosarian Academy’s annual Field Day for kindergarten through fourth-grade students.
“Just the luck of the Irish, I guess,” said Lindsey Beylo, athletic director.
Rosarian’s Field Day is robed in tradition. Students are assigned to a team color and remain with that team throughout their years at the school. Siblings all play on the same team. The students compete in soccer, flag pull, basketball relays and other creative games such as messy yard, poly spot round-up, scooter relays and bowling blitz.
Team Yellow member Sebastian Keough, a third-grader who helped coach the soccer team, said, “We won the flag pull, it used our whole team.”
“I liked the flag pull too,” agreed teammate Joseph Cioffi, a fourth-grader. “It felt fantastic to win.”
Field Day for Rosarian students in fifth through eighth grade is held in the fall.
