Rosarian Academy bee finalists: The Rosarian Academy school-level competition of the 2019 National Spelling Bee was held on Jan. 11. Twelve students in fifth through eighth grade competed.
After 16 rounds, sixth-grader Emma Chopin won with the champion word “deliberately.” Nicholas Grippi, also a sixth-grade student, was the runner-up. They were the two school-level finalists in 2018 as well. They will both represent Rosarian at the Final Regional Southeastern Florida Scripps Spelling Bee on March 7 at The Benjamin School.
The other Spelling Bee participants included fifth-graders Ella Ross Lang, Charlotte Jordan and Heidi Alcime; sixth-grader Risa Hernandez; seventh-graders Juan Lucas Gonzalez, Harry Scarola and Tucker Yavinsky; and eighth-graders MJ Hanlon, Ava Iuliani and Victoria Reynolds.
