The library media center is open each school day from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. for book selection, study, projects, homework or research. When a child is unaccompanied by a parent after 3:45 p.m., aftercare rates begin in the media center.
Lower School students may borrow two books for two weeks; Middle School students may borrow two books for four weeks. All students are encouraged to borrow one book from within their ZPD (AR reading level) and a free choice for their second selection.
Students are accountable for all books checked out. Overdue notices are sent home on a monthly basis in their folders. An overdue fine of one can of food for each day a book is late will be imposed on all students (max. 10 cans). C.R.O.S. Ministries is the passionate and inspirational recipient of all food collected. A student will be required to pay $13 for a lost paperback book and $17 for a lost hardcover book. Also, all borrowing privileges will be suspended until the book is returned or the fee is paid. Students have the option of replacing the lost book with a like copy (softcover or hardcover) in place of the fine.
