Science and Religion Meet at 6th Grade Field Trip to Blowing Rocks

The 6th Grade Field Trip to Blowing Rocks Preserve on Thursday, January 20, 2022, combined a religion lesson with science. As Catholic Social Teaching holds “Caring for Creation” as one of its seven themes, students encountered some of these efforts first-hand at Blowing Rocks Preserve. Students had the opportunity to learn about the importance of native species of plants and how invasive species are removed. Putting “Caring for Creation” into action, students extracted a whopping forty-two pounds of plastic and garbage from the beach. This also follows the Adrian Dominicans’ Vision, which calls people to “…live right relationships with the Earth community.” All students and chaperones who attended were grateful to our God for the beautiful day and the chance to learn more about our planet.
