Yesterday and today, Rosarian Academy students traveled back in time to relive a day in the first classroom in the area. The Little Red Schoolhouse is home to The Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach’s “living history” program, in which students will spend a day learning the 3 “R’s”: Reading, wRiting, and aRithmetic and other lessons typical of the 1890s, including learning Spencerian script, reciting stories from McGuffey’s Readers, participating in a spelling bee, and experiencing classic recess games.

Fourth-grade teacher Katherine Murphy led her class Thursday, February 24, and fourth-grade teacher Shannon Edwards guided her class through the Little Red Schoolhouse Friday, February 25.

The Palm Beach Daily News featured photos of the field trip on its front cover of the Friday, February 25, 2022 edition.
