Rosarian Academy soccer coach Lindsey Beylo knew she had a special squad this season, but as her team went into its league championship game against Palm Beach Day Academy , she began to wonder.

First, the Raiders gave up an early score to the Bulldogs on an own goal, and the Bulldogs, who had gotten to the championship game by upsetting unbeaten St. MarkÕs Episcopal in the semifinals, were playing an inspired game on their home turf.

ÒWe went down five minutes into the game on an own goal, and it definitely affected us,Ó Beylo said. ÒBut the girls rallied, and we scored with 20 minutes left in the game.Ó

That goal came off the foot of striker Madison Fabbri and with it came momentum, Beylo said.

But not another goal, so the teams went to overtime. After two rounds of sudden-death overtime, it went to a shootout.

Two Bulldogs scored, but Fabbri, Logan McGruder, Bella Vega-Dadurian and Grace Colangelo all made their attempts for the Raiders. McGruder, the goalkeeper, also made a crucial stop.
