Curriculum & Goals
The Children’s House Montessori classroom educates 3-5 year-old students who are fully potty-trained. The curriculum builds on lessons introduced in the Toddler House in the following areas: Practical Life, Sensorial, Art, Fine and Gross Motor Development, Music, Math, Language, Spanish and Cultural areas. Some of the main goals for our students in the Children’s House include: independence, self-regulation, a positive self-concept, exploration, discovery, fine and gross motor development, concentration, order, socialization, grace, courtesy, good manners and the development of a love of learning.
The older students in the class (ages 4-5) participate in the Raider Readiness Pre-K Skills Program as a means of preparing for kindergarten the following Fall. Rather than nap in the afternoons, the Raiders spend that time focusing on handwriting, math concepts, and pre-reading skills. This Raider Readiness program enhances the Montessori curriculum and helps ensure our students are well prepared for the traditional kindergarten classroom.
