One of Rosarian AcademyÕs second-grade classes spent a recent afternoon handcrafting two blankets for children who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need. Led by teacher Melissa Loving, the students made the blankets by using brightly colored pieces of fleece and tying them together.
For each knot tied in the blankets, the students said special prayers for the children who would receive them. Then the students hugged each of the blankets to add a special touch.
The blankets were donated to Project Linus, a nonprofit based in Belton, Mo., which provides love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies or anywhere that a child might be in need of a big hug.
