Media/Photo Advisory for August 29, 2016 Challenge Day

Be the Change: Rosarian Academy Kicks Off School Year with Challenge Day on Monday, August 29

WHAT:
Rosarian Academy is joining the Be the Change movement by kicking off the school year with Challenge Day for 7th and 8th grade students on Monday, August 29. Challenge Day, which goes beyond traditional anti-bullying efforts, builds empathy and ignites a movement of compassion and positive change. The dayÕs mission is to provide youth and their communities with experiential workshops and programs that demonstrate the possibility of love and connection through the celebration of diversity, truth and full expression. For 6 _ hours, students will be inspired to Òbe the changeÓ they wish to see in the world.

Challenge Day is the world leader in providing empowering and transformational workshops for teens and has been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, MTV, the Emmy Award-winning documentary, Teen Files: Surviving High School and the book Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul. The Challenge Day Program in schools helps reduce teasing, bullying, and stereotyping and teaches tools for peaceful conflict resolution and how to express emotions in a healthy way.

Challenge Day is being brought to Rosarian Academy as an expansion of its Advisory Program which strives to strengthen connections and self-identity at the Middle School level. During advisory time, students build character and build relationships and trust among themselves, their peers and their adult advisor(s). Activities are built around the spirit of school family, creating respect within the school community and beyond.
