Advisory for Thursday, May 28, 2020: Drive-Thru Conferring of Diplomas

DRIVE-THRU CONFERRING OF DIPLOMAS FOR ROSARIAN’S CLASS OF 2020: THURSDAY, MAY 28, 9:30 AM

WHAT:
42 eighth-grade students will join the ranks of Rosarian Academy alumni tomorrow, May 28, 2020. Although tomorrow’s graduation will not be a traditional Rosarian ceremony, it will be one to be remembered. Rather than gathering in the school theater to walk across the stage where many special moments were celebrated, the Class of 2020 will drive through the front of the school to receive their diplomas.

The drive-thru ceremony will take place between the timeframe of 9:30 AM – 10:15 AM. Faculty and staff will be lined up at least six feet apart along the drive-thru route (see below) to cheer on and congratulate the Class of 2020 who most have not seen since campus closed on March 13. Graduates will only be allowed out of their cars one at a time to receive their diplomas. All graduates have been invited to show their Rosarian spirit and decorate their cars.

Later Thursday, a live virtual ceremony honoring the students for their many accomplishments will also take place via Zoom at 4:00 PM. Class of 2007 alumna, Dr. Mary Acosta, will be the commencement speaker. Dr. Acosta is currently at the University of Chicago working as an Internal Medicine Resident in the COVID unit. She spends her days treating countless patients who are fighting for their lives and some who are nearing the end without loved ones by their sides.
