8th Grade Class visits Washington D.C. on annual field trip

As an extension of the eighth grade classroom study of American democracy and the U.S. Constitution, twenty-nine Rosarian Academy eighth-grade students and four chaperones took a tour of our nation’s capital April 10-12. Class work came alive as the enthusiastic group started their extensive, guided three-day tour of Washington, D.C., including: Arlington National Cemetery, the Marine Corps War Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Washington Monument, Mount Vernon Estate, World War II Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Martin Luther King Memorial, FDR Memorial, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Iwo Jima Memorial, and Library of Congress. A special thanks to Mr. Shepherd, (father of 8th grader Jack Shepherd) for setting up a private tour of the Supreme Court.

Traveling to Washington, D.C. has become an annual tradition for the eighth grade over the last decade. ÒOur students demonstrated team work and cooperation throughout, and I could not have been happier in terms of the way they represented our school at our nation’s capitalÓ said Head of School Stephen Rubenacker. This year, students were chaperoned by Amy Anderson, Amy Burke, and Jon Payne who organized the entire trip.

The eighth grade class includes: Brad Albritton, Sailor-Kate Ashley, Remi Beaud, Daniel Calvelli, Cossimo Carpenter, Alexia Charlerie, Gemma Conroy, Hope Diffenderfer, Marlowe Dunn Flom, Devyn Dyett, Lorenzo Escobar, Gabi Faber, Jack Fields, Isabella Fiorentino, Aidan Griffiths, Van Gronberg, Kate Hamilton, Bettina Johnston, Javier Keough, Alana Marchese, Sofia Mendez, Egan Mendia, Johnny Molina, Matthew Mullen, Drew OÕBrien, Carson Perry, Max Sanderson, Jack Shepherd, Lacey Steele, Bella Vega-Dadurian, Skyler White, Hannah Wilson, and McKenzie Wilson
